The Toe Saga Continues.....
So I saw a specialist and he poked my toe and said 'hmmm.... thats not normal' NO SHIT tell me something I dont know! Reminded me all of the times Ive been to the doctor and you tell them something along the lines of 'I feel like I have a sore throat' they look at you and poke you and then get this serious look on their face and say something like 'it appears you have a sore throat' I could have told you that, did you really need to go to school all those years to tell me what I already knew? But thankfully the diagnosis wasnt over. He then for reference looks at my normal toe and says 'hmmmm...... tell me the story of how the crappy one got this way' So I recount the story. He makes his decision 'It appears that your once only bacterial infection has become a fungal infection and has basically messed up the nail bed really good. Im giving you two tubes of antifungal along with pills which you will take for 9 weeks' my next question 'when should I call the med unit if it is not getting better' he laughs a little and says 'your toe wont be better until next year.' wow thanks thats real reassuring, of course I was talking about when should I call if the toe still itches like mad rather than when it will 100% normal. So for full healing to take place the nail will come off (again I lost it the first time when it got infected) and will regrow and hopefully be normal. So by the time Im ready to start thinking about finishing up my peace corps service, my toe should be normal again. I guess thats one thing to look forward to... Like I said I will keep you updated, I know its almost as good as a soap opera.

Actually probably moving about as fast as the action in a soap opera, and about as interesting.
Toenails: they take a long time to grow and they take a long time to heal.
I would start calling it your "special" toe rather than your "crappy" toe.
But that's just me.
Stay healthy above your toes, Mark Loehrke (Carly's dad)
You crack me up! I Hope your toe gets better, and it doesnt take the next year and half! When Brian was in Field Training he didn't get enough protien, and it screwed his big toe nails all up. Its been 6 years and they still aren't normal (We're not sure if its because of his boots or still from field training!) We sent a package out to you this morning with the
3rd Twilight book in it, and some other fun goodies!
at least he didn't look at your toe and say well you it's either infected or you're pregnant... I'm betting even African medicine is better than UNE Health Center...
MISS YOU!!!!! Maybe the drunk walk can become Mel's got a pregnant Toe and needs assistance walking around.
PS got your text. I'm game for any adventure you've got planned or your time in the states. Maybe I'll join in the fetivities. I've never gotten one in VT before... PA,ME,NH... those I've done, but not Vermont yet.
