I was lying on my bed reading during the hottest time of the day when I look over at my cat who is lying on her side. I could see at least 2 kittens squirming around. It was quite possibly one of the the cooler things Ive seen in a long time. Due to this Im guessing that there are at least 3 kittens in there. But she has to wait until April to have her kittens. I dont know if shell hold off that long. If any volunteers want a kitten my price is one beer, and you have to come and get it. Let me know.
The baby next door, ok so hes more or less a large todler now, attempts to say my name. It is really cool that he is going to learn my name BEFORE yovo. I ride my bike by and he raises his hands in the air and trys really hard to say my name it kind of comes out hey-hiss, but hes trying. Hes also the fattest todler Ive seen in Benin, this bodes well for his future. as there are some kids suffering from malnutrition, with their skinny legs and arms but contrasted with big bloated bellys. This kid in comparision is fat all over.
Im in the process of going around and interviewing the women who have mud stoves as to their effectivness, how much they like them, their knowledge of how to build one, whether or not they would build another, and if any others have been built that they know of. This is so that I can review the effectiveness of my project so far and help Peace Corps compile some data on the project for future volunteers. I started by interviewing two women and here is what they came up with, before without the stoves they were using 10 or more pieces of wood for each time they made a meal for their families, but now with the stoves they only use on larger piece of wood and 3 smaller pieces of wood, 4 total. They have demonstrated the ability to make a stove and explained it to me so that I knew they could do it again, they would make more stoves for their other pots and one woman is attempting to phase out cooking on stones completely and switch to stoves, yay!! and then they showed me where another woman who was part of my workshop built a stove all by herself. It was still drying but it seemed to be in good shape.
The last cool thing that has happened to me, the restaraunt next door i can now call and they deliver me food, so that means i can have pizza brought to my house. I cant even get pizza delivery in the states! Be jelous.

Many cool things in this blog entry.
Here's how I rank my three favorites (by coolness):
3) The continued success of the mud stoves (it's your job so I figured I'd BETTER rank it).
2) Pizza delivery. Sort of blows my mind, not gonna lie.
and the coolest thing in your latest entry:
1) The hefty toddler learning your NAME instead of "Yovo". That is AWESOME!!!!
It's all about baby steps.......or toddler steps, as the case may be.
Stay inspiring.....I know you'll be perspiring, Mark Loehrke (Carly's dad)
When our son was very little his best friend was Melissa, but the best he could do then was "Sa Sa", which was what we all ended up calling her. I gotta give that little guy credit, and very happy you will have a name beyond yovo. Big steps.
Can't wait to see the kittens!
