Come Into It

As my cousin Nathan and Uncle Randy would say. After two weeks in Porto Novo for training it was definatly time to get back on my bike for my hour a day bike ride. My first bike ride I decided to go to a little village that I remembered the ride being really pretty. This was of course when I was averages 10 to 12 kilometers a day. I forgot why it was pretty, because there are about 2 dozen hills to climb and then go back down. At the crest of each hill is a very nice vista. But each hill was steep and basically tough to get up and over. I had to put my bike on some of the lower gear settings just to muscle my way up. When I returned though I sat down under my ceiling fan and took a breather. But after a couple days of biking Im noticing that I can go farther and longer without feeling like Im exerting myself. Yestarday for example I did the 20 kilometer loop starting in Bassila, going to Kikele, and then out to Manigri before returning to Bassila and my legs were only mildly sore this morning and I took another bike ride south and have since got the soreness out of them. All this biking has been going on I noticed today after my ride that the seat was a little loose. I was late and so I thought Id just leave it and look at it in a few hours during lunch. About five feet from my house the seat to my bike broke off. I thought maybe the screw was loose that held it in place and it just jostled its was completely out, no the screw was broken in half. Damn. Glad it happened there and not inbetween Manigri and Kikele, or on my morning bike ride today. So I was really late to work today, but nobody cares, by really late I mean an hour and 20 minutes, I was going by American standards. Showed up said hello to them and then everyone tells me that there is no work for me until after the first of January, and because I have things I need to plan for, such as a SAFARI!!!!!!, I kindly explained that I was going to be back to work on Monday the 5th. Where I have scheduled a meeting to teach a woman how to crochet with plastic bags, something to look forward too.
Still no packages from the Perrys, maybe tomorow. I check every day. I will continue to check everyday because its on the way to the market and with my bike unusable I will be walking and will probably be combining trips. Other things that I need to get started again after the holidays are my womens group, environmental club and the group in a little village which I cant spell the name of who wants to learn about composting. Time to get back into the swing of things. Oh fun tid bit, from now until September there is something I have planned to go every month thats about all I can think of for now hopefully soon I will post pictures of my christmas for you all to see.

You and your bike must be as one.....it knew just when to break.
I was hoping that the screw wasn't broken as well because it would have led to inevitable jokes about "you having a screw loose"........but alas.
I'm sure the bike will be fixed in an entertaining and unexpected way.
Have fun on your safari!!!!! Take lots of pictures and don't get TOO close to the wild animals!!!!
