Merry Christmas everyone! Happy Holidays! i hope you all got lots of good loot and ate some really good food gained 5 pounds and had the joy of listening to christmas music for the last month and half. How does a west african christmas go you may ask. well christmas eve i was with my postmates and we did stockings i got some good stuff, popcorn and bracelets that are typically worn by the folani, really neat stuff. among with some other things as well. id like to thank everyone who sent me christmas packages, even though they all havent arrived yet the fact that you were thinking of me was nice. but now because they all havent arrived i get to have christmas for many days instead of just one, try not to be too jelous.
so christmas eve we listened to christmas music had almost tacos but not really they contained beninese cheese and were close but not quite, still very good though. then my postmates neighbors decided to have a who can out music the other by turning on VERY LOUD rap music, no they werent rapping about christmas either. but in the end the power of the christmas music prevailed and we won out in the end, ha ha nobody can stifle christmas music. then we went to bed and woke up and opened stockings and i made them cake doughnuts, this maybe a new talent of mine might even rival flan, which i may or may not whip out next time i return home. then we watched love actually which is a movie centered around love and christmas, appropriate. then we went over to a friends house to celebrate christmas with a bunch of other white people from europe and the states and we were drive home about 10pm after having eaten lots of turkey played games, and sung about 2 tons of christmas carols anyone whose heard me sing knows that it isnt pretty but i wasnt alone in that catagory and nobodies ears bled so it was a sucess, good christmas.
i was reminded about all the times that my family had invited others into our home on christmas day, first was uncle saudi who spent a few christmases with us when my brother and i were very little then there was efram an old man in our town who also didnt really have any plans for christmas. then there were the times that friends of the Perry family showed up unannounced during yankee swap... theres quite a list, but anyway i now know how amazing it is to offer someone eles a place to be on christmas day. and anyone who found themselves inviting a friend or neighbor over for christmas, thanks i know how they feel and i know how thankful i was for being thought of around the holidays.
Merry Christmas all, even though its a big late, have a good New Year.

I'm glad that you were able to have a Christmas with friends; some of them new ones for the day!!!
I'm glad that you got some cool presents....the fulani bracelets sound awesome.
I'm glad that you watched "Love Actually", one of our favorite Christmas movies and one that we watched this year. "Eight is a lot of legs, David". Judy and I like the scene at the end when everyone is getting hugs at the airport. It makes us miss Carly but that is sort of good sometimes.
I'm glad that you had turkey and cake doughnuts. Yum.
I'm VERY glad that Christmas carols won out over rap music. DEFINITELY as it should be!!!!
And I'm glad that you are a new friend of our family and that we've met you this year. Happy New Year to you as well. I'm sure it will be a year unlike any other for you in amazing and special ways that can't be imagined.
Best, Mark Loehrke (Carly's dad)
