AIDS talk
so i had an expirence today that made me realize how fortunate i really am. during our training about AIDS and HIV with our work partners and every american in the room has a pretty good base of knowledge about HIV AIDS so we kind of just dove into the discussion following the lead of the facilitator. and we all started talking about the social aspects of AIDS and reasons why certains groups of people are more vunerable etc. then we talked about testing and one of the work partners asks but what if your mystically infected by AIDS what do you do then because you wont test positive at the health center because of the voodoo. this is a serious question. you might find this funny but the more i thought about it less funny and more sad it became. that first of all we began with a discussion about AIDS when people didnt know answers to basic questions and then were supposed to answer critical thinking questions about the topic. HIV and AIDS are big issues in the world and the fact that college educated people couldnt tell you how the virus was transmitted, how it worked and why there was no cure. they only knew to wear a condom when having sex, but get this some people dont even know that condoms are an effective form of birth control. it just speaks to the level of education in the country. so let me just tell you all, you got it good. sorry this is short but i gotta get going.

We most definitely have it good here in the old U S of A.
And it is very, very sad that there is such a lack of knowledge about HIV/AIDS. Ignorance kills and nowhere is that more clear than with this awful disease. Keep fighting the good fight.
