Hanson came in UNE. No I am not kidding, and yes I did get to hear them sing MMMBop. I was never a fan of them back when they were big, when I was 12. I never did get into the boy-band thing. When I was at that age I started my rebellion against authority and wasn't interested in listening to pop. I then discovered rock and I've never looked back. So when I learned Hanson was coming to town I didn't really care. But I can respect them because they make money off their art, people pay them for it, better than what I could do. More power to them. A little part of me also remembered a 12 year old girl when mmmbop played. The nostalgic value definitely kicked in. I remember being in elementary school gym class and our teacher split us into teams by those who liked Hanson and those that didn't. It would always split down the middle, I was on the those that didn't like Hanson side, we always beat the Hanson-likers. Thought some people would like the interesting tid-bit from my childhood.
Oh so now my blog is on peacecorpsjournals.com. Hello all! I will be leaving for staging on July 1st, then heading to Benin to begin Peace Corps service, 27 months. I would be very interested in meeting others who are going to Benin or currently in Benin. I've been reading some of the other blogs to try to find out what I'm getting myself into. I've also been desperately trying to do my homework so I can graduate, but the Peace Corps is distracting me. I'll read an interesting fact about Benin and then I just won't stop, I will continue reading the guide that I bought. I'm not sure how helpful it's going to be, but it is pretty entertaining. Some of the wildlife sounds a bit out of this world. There are numerous species of antelope, and hundreds of bird species along with primates and chameleons. I didn't even know that those lived in Benin. I only have about 20 pages of papers due on Friday, I guess a little distraction is ok as long as I start them. Au revior!
