Lately I've been walking around campus and realized that two years from now it's going to be a very foreign place. After 3 years I won't recognize any students. After graduation I don't see myself returning to my college. While it would be nice, I know after May 10th it will never be the same. Once I leave in July, I don't see myself returning to southern Maine. I would much sooner work and live in Vermont than Maine. Then I think about how my day to day life will change when I am in Benin. I envision myself walking red dusty streets in the early morning before it gets too hot.
While in Benin I want to go to a national park and see elephants and hippos, I'd really like to see a manatee as well. Go on safari, with a camera instead of a gun. I hope that I am able to get beyond the heat (I am a very much a winter person LOVE the snow, grew up in Vermont after all) and see the beauty, because there is beauty everywhere. anyway enough of my romantic day dreaming.
I've added one more thing on the list of things I want for Benin, and IPod. I would really like one. a nano will do just fine I just don't want to bring all my CD's with me. Even though I don't own very many CD's it would be nice just to bring a little eletronic device on the plane with me instead of a CD player, and CD's packed in my backpack. Oh and I need to get my own sewing kit together, including patch material. I know what I want in a sewing kit so that shouldn't be too hard.
Benin is a constant distraction from my school work. I almost wish now that I had applied a few months ago and been distracted like I am now at home instead of school. Oh well.
