Adventure Day!

Nature never ceases to amaze me with it's simple beauty. I've lived on the ocean now for four years, being able to look out the window of my house and seeing the waves crashing up against rocks, or rolling into shore. I really enjoy watching the tides go in and out. No wonder why nature is common theme in art and literature. I feel the need to pick up some Edward Abbey, perhaps Desert Solitaire, and read it on the beach in the sun. I need to purchase a copy of that for my personal library.

I woke up today and looked outside I don't have class until 1, I had the morning to do what I wanted. From my window in my bedroom I saw the tide was low, and I've always wanted to explore the structure on the far island so I figured I'd have an adventure today. In about 15 minutes I was on the beach, walking to the far island. Last time I tried to do this the tide was too high to begin with and the sandbar was closed. I was able to walk right out. But the tide was at this point coming back in. I figured that I was already on the island and I wasn't going to give up my adventure just because my feet might get wet. I then see that there is no clear way to get to the island because there is so much brambles and pricker bush I probably wouldn't arrive in one piece let alone in time to catch the tide. I remember someone told me that there was a trail on the other side of the island. So I walked around on the rocks. After awhile I almost turned back due to the rising tide. Then I see it, a way to get to the structure! I took a few pictures, it was an strange monolithic object, on an island covered with brambles. I've never been to Stonehenge but i can imagine that it is something like visiting this chimney looking structure. I looked around it and it had a tiny door, I went inside, it was quite strange and hollow. I'm sure there's some story that goes along with this object but I have absolutely no idea what it is. I practically run back to the sand bar, which at this point I knew was under water. It was up to my knees! In freezing water! The picture to the left is the distance that I had to walk through the water. It was an adventure. Unfortunately now is the time to focus on studying and papers and finishing up college. Back to the grind...
