Without a computer at post, the ones at the cyber cafe dont count, I have a lot of time to read. Other volunteers who have computers find that they watch more movies, in comparison to the zero I watch in my house. Reading has become an addiction for me. I liked to read before I came here and now Im a full fledged addict. I really feel bad for those people who dont like reading, you really dont know what youre missing. I certainly don't read enough and perhaps your reviews will inspire me. I do like Steinbeck but I've never read "Travels with Charley". It looks like that will have to change. I must say that I do like Vonnegut more than you do.....maybe my generation!! I smiled when I saw "Treasure island" on your "best" list and "Gulliver's Travels" on your "worst" list. I used to read my kids books every night before they went to bed and found that some of the "classics" (like "Treasure Island") were GREAT and some were really bad (like "Gullivers Travels" which we all agreed to quit about 50 pages into it).
Good for you and the reading. You continue to get smarter and smarter!!
Stay healthy, Mark Loehrke (Carly's dad)
Im impressed! Thats quite the reading list! Do you have the last twilight book? I can send it back to VT with my mom and you can get it in July. Have you read any of Dan Brown's other books? Let me know if you want me to send you any books, I have three 6' bookshelves full of books - not all reading books, but a good deal of them are! I have a couple of books that are excellent if you enjoy historical fiction.
Please write something after you read Grapes of Wrath so I know you haven't slipped into the depths of depression. It is a great book, but watch out. Have something happy planned ahead!
PS I have read Travels with Charlie, I think our book group actually read it, too, but I missed that night, and it was long ago. It is a good one.
I am about 50/50 on having read the rest of them, and have read only Gulliver's Travels on your bad list. I must say it was a bit of a struggle, kind of dated, which I don't particularly mind, but it was kind of like listening to someone else's dream that you are not in. Boring.
