Bassila

this is my post, basilla: it took a 7 hour bus ride to get here from cotonou: but there is an internet cafe here: i recieved a letter from echo lake yestarday thanks guys that was really cool: i also recieved a package from my memere and a letter from my mother which both contained pictures: ive sent out a few letters to family since ive been here: sorry guys only family thus far because i have yet to find the post office in porto novo and at this point i probably wont that and its expensive for my to send out stuff on a regular basis: that and my grandfather died on my fathers side so my thoughts have been with family: i will talk about this on a later date: so i saw my house which is awesome: i live in an apartment complex with about 8 other apartments: i share a courtyard and well with everyone: when you walk into my house you are in the living space and dining area: its got red tiles and yellow painted walls oh and best of all a ceiling fan: after that there is my bedroom; not really much to say about it other than its 4 walls and a window: after that i have my kithcen: which there is a sink but there is no running water so its basically a drain: next to that is my shower: which is a small room with a drain: i have to go outside to use the latrine: which is a nice latrine; nicest one ive seen here thus far: its raised so its a bit more comfortable than a hole in the ground: my house is small but i like it i dont need a lot of stuff: today i will go to the carptenter to order furnature i would like a double bed frame made and a table and chairs set: im hopeing later on that i will be able to have a bookshelf and dresser for clothes made: im going to use my twin matress that peacecorps issued me as a spare bed and couch type sitting place: oh i guess i also have cable hook up for a TV now anyone who knows me realizes how much i watch TV hardly ever at school; i didnt even own a TV until i was given a portable DVD player: i think that its kind of funny that i have a cable hook up but i probably wont even buy a TV to use it: i prefer to read:
basilla is a town of about 70,000 people: which is pretty funny that i went from a place in the states to a larger place in Africa: i can find way more in bassila than i could in belmont: and even a bit more than ludlow: i think that this is really quite funny: anyway i have to get going my minutes are running low: oh to everyone who has my phone number (i have a cell phone) it will change because i dont have reception with my current phone:
