boy bands and power ballads

i realize that i just was on here like 2 days ago but thought since i have some extra time id do a quick update: as the title suggests theres an overabundance of 90s pop kickin around here in benin: way too much backstreet boys, maria carey, and celine dion: all of whom i think the world would be a better place without: today for exampe i went on promenade, as in i took a little trip around bassila visiting people for only at most 10 minutes saying hello and then leaving, well one stop that we were at for a particularly long time thought it would be a nice gesture to put on some american music, and it was music videos to this one hit wonder boy band, westpoint or something like that, west something or other, and it was meant to be a sing along; so the words to all the songs were listed at the bottom of the screen like subtitles: i then listened to this for a long time and it totally drowned out the talk that was happening between my work partner and his friend: i never liked boy bands to begin with and i actually really hate them so having to watch crappy subtitled pop which was already in english and boys dance around like their fresh out of puberty was not my idea of fun: nice gesture though i get it theyre trying to make me feel more comfortable here in benin: this is just one example people here LOVE the female power ballad, i thought i had gotten away from a maria carey christmas when i left my residents my sophmore year in freddy, love you girls but you guys played that CD in particular WAY too much, no such luck they play that thing here like its christmas all the time! i hate a maria carey christmas with such a passion its not even funny; right now the kid next to me is blasting crappy pop female power ballad: i thought you all would enjoy hearing about my struggles with the lack of good music: i like the local music but the stuff imported from the states not so good: they must have a terrible image of american music: thats that i gotta go: i might not be online for the next two weeks due to money and the lack there of: next post from bassila when im actually living here:
