Here's some interesting sites in Benin, the first is a village in a lake, the second is a voodoo market. So I've been having some interesting experiences lately of people who I barely talk to coming up to me and being like 'So when are you leaving for Africa?' I live in a very small town so gossip spreads like wildfire. Everyone knows at least something about everyone else, even if they're never spoken before. I used to work at the little general store so I did talk to a lot of different people in town, but since going to college I really have stopped seeing the same people. It's very strange to have someone come up to you and be like 'wow that's really cool you're joining the Peace Corps, you k
now I read your blog and everything, your mom told me all about it!' I don't mind my family telling others to keep up with me, because they would do that regardless of how I felt about it, but it's really amazing the amount of people I am sharing this experience with, without really even having to try. It's great! I love telling stories about things that have happened to me, it's how I relate to similar situations. This is the ultimate story to share. I'm glad that I get to share it with so many.I still have a lot to get done on my list before I leave for Benin. I can't wait to meet everyone who I'm going to be volunteering with. I've only talked a little bit to some of people but it seems that everyone is very friendly and almost as excited to go (if not more) than myself. I've found some other volunteers who are also working in the environmental program.
