Greensboro
Here I am in Greensboro, VT at local library. Which closes at 7. Normally it's only open until 5. I thought I was going to be really cool and come here and do some language learning with Rosetta Stone no such luck, the computers don't have the updated software to run it. I would just update one computer, help out the library because they are going to have to do anyway, but unfortunately the download features are blocked. Sad day. I really did have intentions of working on that here. Maybe the computer next to me will have such an update considering how the kid next to me is playing computer games... slightly irritating. I guess I'll just have to have a relaxing vacation without any work. Today I did a lot of reading, and looking out at the lake from the porch. I took a nap and then did some more reading. I'm actually reading in the guide book I picked up about Benin, Bradt's book, It's the only one I found that Amazon currently sells on only Benin. I read about all the scary diseases from malaria to typhoid, also on all the creepy-crawly worms and ticks that borrow in the skin. I read that and asked myself why I was choosing to live in such a place for two years of my life. I also read more about Voodoo and got a better understanding of the religion, and why people believe certain things. The westernized Hollywood idea is that it is all a lot of crap and almost laughable. When I would hear about Voodoo I thought it was some sort of strange Haitian ritual where human sacrifice took place. While I still have a lot of questions left unanswered (Why do they sacrifice cats?) I feel like the basic principles are quite similar to Christianity or Buddhism. Anyhow the computer next to me is free I'm going to try. Au revoir!
