Good Job Everyone!!

And everyone stood up all at once and said, I would like Obama for president. Good job America. Record turn out at the voting booths, excellent way to use our right to vote, regardless of who you voted for Im proud of Americans. This not only is good for the US but also everywhere around the world, Peace Corps will also benefit from this as he had a plan for helping out Peace Corps, which does need more help in case you didnt already know. If anyone was curious as to how I voted, heres the story of my vote. I signed up for absentee ballot before I left for Africa, I was also told that Benin might have been the farthest an absentee ballot has had to go from my town. This year was one of the first years you could recieve ballot through email but I had already left before I knew about it. My mom was contacted by the town office and told that it was possible for me to vote this way and if I was interested. This is one of the perks of living in a small town everyone knows that Im in Africa and someone thought, hmmm I bet she would need a ballot through email Ill let her family know. So I get the ballot emailed to me, and I print it out and send it in as quickly as I possibly could, It cost about 1.60 dollars to send it back. I also sent out a letter about this time to my parents to see how long the ballot should have taken. Once again a perk of living in a small town, I was emailed by the town office they let me know that they recieved my ballot, it took 3 weeks for the ballot to leave the post office here in Bassila to get to my small town in Vermont. There you have it the story of my vote.
Lately Ive been trying to start environmental clubs and working on a community study. Things just go slow around here this is the reason why ive been trying to start an environmental club for 3 weeks and it hasnt yet materialized. Like my womens group who crochets plastic bags this also has yet to get going, I have women who are interested but the head woman is out of town and has been for two weeks so there you have it, its gotten put on the back burner. Im hoping in the next meeting we can find another person who is able to translate between french and Anii so that the meetings are so heavily relied on her being there. Shes a busy woman and i think it would only help her do more if someone eles was able to translate. But lately Ive been working with a French tutor and that has been helpful I feel like I can speak more like a 9 year old now and less like an 8 year old. This is good.
Tomorow will mark my first two months at post. 2/3 of the way through the hardest time, the first three months. Ive been thinking of a cool way to describe my time here, and I think Ive found a winner, there are 24 months that Im here, and 24 hours in a day, so if my time here was represented by one day, it would be 2am, still party time. Heres another way to look at it I, Im 1/12 of the way finished as well. Its gone by fast I dont feel like Ive been here for two months.

Good job Melissa on working hard to get YOUR vote out there as well!!!
The election was very exciting here as I'm sure it was in Benin!!!
I'm glad that time is going by quickly.....the first few months are almost through!!!
As time goes by you'll make more and better contacts and things will get done more easily......but probably still on African time!!
Stay healthy and happy, Mark Loehrke (Carly's dad)

All I can say is its a good thing you're a Perry - and you don't give up easily! From what you've said about Benin Time, it sounds like youre well on your way to lots of progress in your 1/12 you've completed so far!

As for your vote, good for you! But does your Dad know you voted for Obama? :-p
We love you, and said you lots of hugs and kisses! Have you gotten the package from us yet?
