la jour pour marche

well market day, or marche jour as the locals say is a fun time. its like a huge farmers market but definately theres a whole lot more local flavor added. i will take pictures of market day at some point. probably next wednesday, wednesday is market day i realize its friday but im sure youd all like to hear about it. on market day the place for the market is packed with everything you could ever want including but not limited to bikes, greens, toilet paper, shampoo, soy flour, canned veggies, margarine!!!!!... anything you could ever want is there. so im walking around with my fellow PCVs and i see a child squatting and let me just say it was an eye opening expirence to see a child take a dump in the middle of a busy market street. but what is more astonishing to me is that me and my friends were the only people who thought anything of this. poop is just a reality here, goats, chickens, dogs, sheep all run around free everywhere and poop everywhere its just the way it is the world is their toilet, this holds true for children as well. needless to say i wash all my food very well. back to the market it gets very busy and sometimes if youre with someone you could turn the corner and be less than 10 feet from them and not see them. its an interesting expirence. much more fun than visiting a super market, think of this way no check out lines, more interesting people, there might be a guy playing street music, and you probably can find more variety of items in the open air market than you can at your local hannahfords or pricechopper. time for me to go ill update next week sometime.
